The Arran Explores’ Series

is a collection of limited edition expressions of The Arran Single Malt. Each edition celebrates the outstanding scenic beauty and diversity of nature on the Isle of Arran.

As the ferry across the firth of Clyde nears its destination, the visitor will be granted a first glimpse of ”Scotland in Miniature’, the Isle of Arran. The broad sweep of Brodick Bay, backed by dense woodland of Scots pine, is guarded by the island’s highest peak, Goat Fell. With its varied terrain of sandy beach, verdant field, impenetrable forest and craggy mountain pass, this magical island affords the traveler a wide choice of outdoor pursuits.

The view from the foothills south of Brodick Bay is best taken in with a dram of The Arran Single Malt in hand. This particular example is 20 years old and has been matures in both bourbon barrels and sherry hogsheads before being finished in oloroso sherry butts sourced directly from Bodegas Tradicion in Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. The complex and multi-layered dram perfectly reflects the diversity, allure and charm of this beautiful island. Take your senses on an adventure around the isle of Arran.

Brodick Bay 20 Years

Tasting notes:

Nose:Imm ediate no tes of creamy toffee emerge with the fresh fruity citrus notes of Arran also very evident. The promise of something memorable

Palate: Starts with an intense sweetness which coats the tongue as the creamy toffee develops into a treacle laced fudge. Dark chocolate raisins and honey give the dram delicious depth which stays long on the palate. With time or a drop of water, this dram opens up beautifully and shows another side with soft oak and hints of pink pepper.

Finish: Long and memorable. A real gourmet dram which retains the sweetness of the delicate Arran character with layers of rich intense fruit. Welcome to Brodick Bay and the beautiful Isle of Arran.

Locranza Castle 21 Years

Wonderfull well matured signature of Arran. A lot of fruit and vanilla. A very long warm, mellow and creamy finish. Stunning !

Casktype: Ex-Sherry Hogsheads Amontillado Sherry Finish

Strength: 47.2 % Vol.

Nose: Lots of vanilla, pineapple, quite creamy. Some coconut

Taste: A burst of vanilla, pineapple, whipped cream, a lot of woodyness (fresh oak).

Finish: Very fruity and creamy finish. Again pineapples and some apricots as well now. A long and nuttyness and woodyness stays in the mouth for quite some time.

Kildonan & Pladda Island 21 Years

A terrific dram that fully exploits the advantages of a small batch release. A lot of character as in single casks and on the other hand the complexity of a vatting.

Nose: A mixture of sherry flavors, nice and sweet, sugar beet syrup, forest honey, leather, deep wood notes, a touch of mineral notes with citrus and a little dried ginger - the character of the distillery is clearly fighting its way past the barrel, I could sniff my way

Taste: Sweet and creamy, a bit spicy and quite strong but pleasant bitterness, citrus peel, very complex and interwoven

Finish: Intense dryness and sweet raisins, the warmth and sweetness remain forever on the palate and invite you to take another sip

21 years old

Casktype: Sherry Butts, Puncheons and Ruby Port Pipes
